The University College of Teacher Education Vorarlberg is the leading research and training institution for pedagogical professions in the region of Vorarlberg, Austria. In the course of its ongoing development, the University College invites applications for the following position:
Tenured Professorship (PH1/ph1) in Anglophone Literatures and Cultures
(Full-time position, to begin on March 2, 2026)
Qualifications
• Completed doctoral degree in the field of Anglophone literatures and cultures (excluding North America); ideally a postdoctoral qualification (habilitation) or an internationally recognized equivalent
• Relevant scholarly publications in the field
• At least four years of university-level teaching experience in Anglophone literatures and cultures as well as language proficiency
• Preferably, professional teaching experience in English at a secondary school or comparable educational institution, in Austria or abroad
• Proven higher education teaching competence with an emphasis on reflection, innovation, and student-centered learning
• Willingness and ability to engage in academic and project-based collaboration with colleagues
• Familiarity with the Austrian school and education system
• Team spirit and a respectful, collegial attitude toward students and colleagues
Responsibilities
• Teaching in the areas of Anglophone literatures and cultures and language proficiency (primarily within teacher education programs for secondary education)
• Conducting research projects and acquiring external (third-party) funding
• Collaborating with national and international educational and research institutions, as well as regional partners
• Engaging with stakeholders in the educational landscape of Vorarlberg
• Cooperating with faculty colleagues
• Supervising and assessing Bachelor’s and Master’s theses
• Active participation in institutional committees and governance bodies
